He chairs the South Canterbury Irrigation Trust which, in partnership with Meridian, has consents to irrigate 35,000ha in the Hunter Downs scheme. Joe Ferraby – Deputy Chairman, Nelson/Marlborough/West Coast

CRT deputy chairman and Kellogg Scholar, Joe Ferraby and his wife Carolyn own a 674ha sheep and beef property in the Awatere Valley in Marlborough. The property now has irrigation which will lead to changes in its production focus. A one million cubic metre water storage dam is soon to be constructed on the property. Joe chairs Destination Marlborough which is a Council funded regional tourist promotion trust and Terra Vitae Vineyards, a viticulture company owning over 400ha of vineyards in Marlborough and Hawkes Bay. Joe is the chairman of ANZPAC Oils Ltd - the CRT owner of Gulf Oil distributorship in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. Ian Farrant
Ian Farrant has been a professional director for more than 35 years and is currently chairman of Skeggs Group Ltd. Murray Taggart and his wife Gina farm 407ha sheep and cropping under irrigation near Oxford. Crops grown include cereals, ryegrass seed and vegetable seeds. Murray was a Nuffield Scholar in 1996 and the Taggarts won the Tasman region FMG Rural Excellence Award in 2006. Murray is a past national chairman of Meat and Fibre, Federated Farmers. John Foley, Canterbury/North Otago
John and Ruby run a farming operation comprising a 700ha intensive cropping and livestock fattening property in Tokarahi, North Otago. John also has a quarter share in a 840ha dairy farm. Alongside this he runs an agricultural services business. John won the East Coast FMG Royal Excellence Award and went on to win the AC Cameron Award. Ian Bathgate, Otago

Murray Halstead, Southland

Murray Halstead is a Lincoln graduate in valuation, farm management and finance, and a Kellog Scholar. He has many years of farm management, consultancy, commercial and governance experience in areas such as finance, livestock and wool broking, forestry, real estate, property, engineering and meat. Murray owns his own real estate business and farm valuation and consultancy practice. A former stock firm manager and director, Murray has been a CRT director since 1989 through the mergers to the present CRT organisation.
